SHAPING THE FUTURE: INTEGRAL DEVELOPMENT AND VERSATILITY IN MEP-PROJECTS DESIGN TEAM

Today, I want to share about my work team, composed of individuals with backgrounds and skills in various disciplines such as civil engineering, architecture, and drafting. We all share a common goal: to carry out and represent the projects we develop.

In our work, drafting is central, being a crucial process in architecture and engineering by providing detailed graphic representations that serve as a basis for the future construction of projects.

Particularly, I want to highlight the figure of the drafter and their training. Although their main function is the creation of drawings and plans, we consider it essential to provide them with tools and the freedom to technically learn in other disciplines.

Our commitment and goal require taking into account the following considerations:

  • Professional Development: We foster an environment that supports the professional development of drafters, offering opportunities to acquire knowledge in related areas, thus enriching their skills and making them more versatile in the team.
  • Versatility and Adaptability: We encourage the acquisition of knowledge in other disciplines, promoting versatility and adaptability.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: We facilitate effective collaboration between specialties within the team.
  • Understanding the Global Project Context: We encourage the exploration of other disciplines to provide a deeper understanding of the project’s global context, which facilitates the proactive identification of problems and the generation of comprehensive solutions.
  • Innovation and Problem Solving: Exposure to diverse disciplines fosters innovation and enhances the ability to creatively solve problems. Drafters, with additional technical skills, can propose more efficient and effective solutions.
  • Long-Term Career Development: We offer opportunities for technical and professional learning and growth, contributing to long-term career development, allowing evolution towards more specialized or leadership roles with a solid technical foundation.
  • Adaptation to New Technologies: Diversification of skills allows drafters to easily adapt to new technologies and emerging methodologies in the field.

At MEP-Projects, where I manage this team, our main goal is to improve these capabilities, with the ultimate goal of having drafters reach the status of engineers. This is achieved through numerous training courses on current software and, above all, with the daily effort and dedication of the professionals in the design team, who, through internal training courses, share their knowledge with each other.

By providing drafters with tools and freedom to technically learn other disciplines, not only their professional development is enhanced, but also the team as a whole is strengthened, boosting its ability to address complex challenges comprehensively.
